Above average temperatures arrive in Western Mass.

Warmups this time of year usually don't last very long.

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – New England weather can be unpredictable. While we were awaiting even colder air to arrive last weekend, this weekend we get to look forward to warmer weather for a change.

Temperatures have been below normal for a while now, in fact, before Sunday, we haven’t reached in the 50s for 10 days. That’s all changing early this week as the low 50s on Sunday could lead to at least a couple days with temperatures above normal for a change.

“It’s back and forth. That’s just the way the weather is…It’s very nice. I dressed a little too warm but it’s still nice. Nice to be out here,” said Ronald Osgood from Springfield.

After more than a week of weather that kept people inside, many of you took the opportunity to get things done with mild air arriving on Sunday.

“Well it’s a good chance to get out and finish up some yard work, maybe put up some holiday lights that I haven’t put up yet…Just take advantage of the good days when you get them and you never know when you’re going to get them in this part of the world,” said Jon Conlogue from Springfield.

Other people felt their mood improving with winter-like temperatures being replaced with mild air more typical of this part of the season.

“I feel a lot better. I think everybody does when the weather gets warmer, people feel a lot better. Not like in Buffalo,” said Ed Taddey from Chicopee.

Even warmer temperatures are possible by Monday afternoon, but as is typical this time of year, these warm-ups are generally brief.
