Westfield State grad honored at State House

Extensive teaching program helps inspiring teachers excel in classroom

BOSTON (WWLP) – Nine state universities in Massachusetts offer an extensive teaching program to help inspiring teachers excel in the classroom. The State Universities of Massachusetts honored eight educators who have graduated from the school’s teaching program.

Westfield State University alumna Jessica Kennedy is currently an Assistant Principal at South Middle School in Westfield. She was honored at the State House for helping both students and teachers grow in the classroom.

Kennedy told 22News that she discovered her love for teaching while studying at Westfield State.

“I just knew it was my passion to help students, to help children, to help teachers,” said Kennedy. “It’s the best field you can be in, I think.”

Educators from North Adams, Bridgewater and Worcester were also honored for their passion for teaching.
