(WOWT) Police in Fremont, Nebraska say a 16-year-old Jaime Valdez has died after being hospitalized for possible cold exposure Sunday morning. The low that morning was 6 degrees, with wind chills as low as -7.
Jaime’s sister, Yesenia Valdez says that Jaime and his 12 year-old brother snuck out of their home Saturday night to go to a college party.
After discovering the boys were gone, Jaime’s mother began looking for them.
Just past 2:00 a.m. police found Jaime’s younger brother passed out in the snow. He was taken to the hospital treated and released.
But Jaime wasn’t found until after 7:00 a.m. “I saw my brother laying there, and I just ran over, and I just grabbed him and I started yelling, ‘Jaime’ and I am just like, ‘Wake up.’ And he wouldn’t,” cried Yesenia.
