HARTFORD, Conn. (WWLP) – A Connecticut man has been sentenced to 18 months in federal prison for defrauding FEMA after the June 1, 2011 tornado.
Robbie Rossi of Enfield was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court in Connecticut. He pleaded guilty back in June to one count of mail fraud involving a benefit paid in connection with a presidentially-declared major disaster or emergency.
The U.S. Attorney’s office said Rossi received more than $12,000 in disaster relief benefits by using false documentation that claimed he lived on New Bridge Street in West Springfield at the time of the tornado.
As part of his sentence, Rossi was also ordered to pay $12,718.60 in restitution and serve two years probation.
