FLORIDA, Mass. (WWLP) – While most portions of western Massachusetts had only rain or maybe a little bit of sleet Monday morning, it was mostly snow in northern Berkshire County,
Snow covered most of the ground in the high-elevation town of Florida, just east of North Adams. While some of the snow on the ground in Florida likely fell late last week, residents definitely woke up to even more snow.
Northern Berkshire county residents told 22News that they usually expect more snow than those who live in surrounding areas.
“We’re a little higher elevated than most people, so we’ll get snow before most people,” Michael LaValley of North Adams said. “You can drive from my house, normally it’d be snowing, and go downtown there’d be no snow at all and that’s only a matter of 500 feet, but that much difference you’ll have a difference of snow and rain.”
The snow will certainly be melting during the day today, as the wintry mix changed over to rain by mid-morning.
