CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A quarter of Massachusetts residents live at or near the poverty line.

The Massachusetts Budget and Policy Center analyzed people’s income and found that one in four people live on a salary that’s very close to the poverty rate. The poverty threshold is $18,800 for a family of three.

Some people told 22News the slow job market is partially to blame. George Robinson told 22News, “It doesn’t really surprise me. I’ve been working since May, but I worked two months last year. Yeah, it’s not fun.”
