Former Mayor Bissonnette to become Greenfield DPW director

He will hold that position for six months until they can find a permanent director

GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A familiar face will serve as the interim director of the Greenfield Department of Public Works. Former Chicopee Mayor Michael Bissonnette will take over the reins as director of the Greenfield DPW.

This is his first week on the job. He will hold that position for six months until they can find a permanent director. With winter right around the corner, he will be responsible for making sure the Greenfield DPW is a well oiled machine and ready for anything.

Mr. Bissonette told 22News, he’s ready for the position, “My job was essentially as a city manager and overseeing all of the departments, not just DPW, so I have some experience in the area and certainly once a public manager, always a public manager.”

He went on to say that it’s a bit of a challenge because it’s a new position, and he’s still learning the ropes. However, he’s looking forward to some of the projects the DPW has in mind.
