Body found floating in Connecticut River

CROMWELL,Conn. (WTNH)–A body was found floating in the Connecticut River in Cromwell on Sunday morning, according to police there.

The Cromwell Police Department said that a kayaker reported having come across the body floating in the river shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday on River Road. The Cromwell Fire Department’s Marine Unit responded, along with units from both the Middletown, the South Fire District, and Portland fire departments. After a search of the area, a man’s body was located and recovered.

Investigators said the body appeared to be that of a black male, approximately 5-11 in height, wearing jeans and sneakers. The department is continuing with its investigation, and is asking anyone with any information to contact the Cromwell Police Department at 860-635-2256.
