JACKSON COUNTY, Missouri (KSHB) Same-sex marriages are underway in Missouri.
The Jackson County Recorder of Deeds began issuing same-sex marriage licenses after the ruling from the U.S. District Court of Western Missouri. The decision comes on the heels of a Friday morning decision by a federal court that Missouri’s ban was unconstitutional .
John Kenny Rodricks and Robert Gann were the first couple to apply for a license. They said they’ve been together for nearly eight years, and planned on being among the first to be married when ceremonies began at 2 p.m.
“From the first day I met him, I knew I was going to marry him,” said Rodricks.
