SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP) — The latest jobs report has been released, and so far, the U.S has added more than 2.3 million jobs this year.
In October, employers added 214,000 jobs, and so far this is the best job growth for America in 15 years.
The rate of unemployment in the country fell below 6% in September for the first time in 6 years.
Last year, the rate was 7.2%.
On average, the economy has been adding well over 200,000 jobs a month this year.
The report also shows that wages have still remained stagnant, and that could be a problem because wages are the key factor in how much money people have to spend, which drives the economy.
So far, the U.S. has added 2.3 million jobs this year, and that number is expected to grow.
So far, this trend of strong job growth has been the best the nation has seen in 15 years. And this job growth will continue in Western Massachusetts.
Now that Springfield is moving forward with a casino, there are new jobs that will be opening. That includes 2,000 construction jobs, 3,000 permanent jobs, and 10,000 jobs across the commonwealth.
As well, the surrounding communities that support the casino have deals with MGM, and will receive close to 2 million dollars upfront and then the projected annual payments will be 1.5 million dollars for 15 years.
