GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Local business owners told 22news they’d welcome the extra customers this holiday season. A new survey conducted by Yelp and Nielsen found that 8 out of 10 people in the U.S. said they’re likely to shop at local businesses for the holidays.
Elizabeth Moore of Andy’s and The Oak Shoppe in Greenfield said the store is able to stay open because of customers who choose to shop locally. “It’s the local consumer that has helped build this business. When you shop locally, when you shop at the small mom and pops, it keeps us local. The big box stores are great for little things, but the things here that we have, you can’t get quality and the customer service else where, I don’t think.”
The study also found that 44-percent of people surveyed plan to shop before all of the Black Friday madness; and while we’re already in the month of November, many business owners said they’re stocked and ready for customers going into the holiday season.
