New playdeck excites patients at Baystate Children’s Hospital

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The young patients at Baystate Children’s Hospital in Springfield say that they are thrilled with their newly-renovated playdeck, where they spend so much of their time during their recovery.

Nine year old Amelia Miscnheimer of Springfield noticed right away how the $365,000 project had made such significant improvements in the playdeck.

“They’ve fixed it up a lot; brought new arts and crafts and stuff,” Miscnheimer said. “The light section of colors, the good stuff on the floor…”

The nine year-old said that the improvements are very important to her, because she and the other young patients spend so much of their days on the playdeck.

Baystate has plans to open a new outdoor playdeck as well in the coming spring.
