SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – After a contested primary in September, Tuesday’s vote makes it official: Democrat Anthony Gulluni will be the next district attorney for Hampden County.
Gulluni faced no Republican or independent opposition for the office, which is currently being held by James Orenstein. Orenstein was appointed by Gov. Deval Patrick to fill out the remainder of the term of independent Mark Mastroianni, who was appointed to a federal judgeship in Springfield.
Gulluni, an assistant district attorney, won a four-way primary for the Democratic nomination in September, beating out former Assistant District Attorney Brett Vottero, and attorneys Shawn Allyn, and Hal Etkin.
