HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) – Hartford police say the victim of a fatal weekend stabbing was a Bulkeley High School student.
Police say 17-year-old Brian Salaman was found at about 8 p.m. Sunday on a sidewalk outside his home, suffering from multiple stab wounds to his neck and torso.
He died at Saint Francis Hospital.
Police have charged Salaman’s 28-year-old cousin, Edwin Ruiz, with murder. He lived in the same home.
Witnesses told police Salaman was stabbed during a fight with Ruiz, who has a history of domestic violence arrests.
It was not immediately clear if Ruiz had hired a lawyer. Hartford Superintendent Beth Schiavino-Narvaez issued a statement calling Salaman’s death “particularly upsetting” and noting he was active in sports and “well loved by his teachers and classmates.”
