GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP)– Drivers using major roads in Franklin County will face detours starting Thursday morning.
The I-91 connector to Rt. 2 eastbound will have several lane and ramp closures starting Thursday.
The MassDOT is urging drivers to allow for extra time Thursday and Friday as they complete a paving project, from where I-91 and Rt 2 meet up to the Gill town line. The repaving project will cover nearly three miles of road and include some guardrail and drain repairs as well.
If you’re heading north on 91 to Rt .2 east, you will be forced to continue to Exit 28. You will then need to head south on 91 to pick up Rt. 2 east that way.
Once that side of the paving is done, the ramps for Rt. 5 and 10 will be closed. Drivers looking to take Rt. 2 east there will be detoured at Silver St.
The work is scheduled to go from 5:30 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. and the completion of the project is weather dependent. The total cost of the project nearly $3.5 million.
