CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – We say good bye to one of our Miracle Babies today.
27 year old Cory Garwacki of East Longmeadow is being laid to rest by family and friends, after a lifetime of accomplishments.
Cory was just recently featured on a Mass Appeal segment in September, to talk about a fundraiser he organized called “Chillin’ Out for Children” which benefits the Baystate Children’s Hospital. That’s the way Cory was: always smiling, always looking to give back.
He was a Miracle baby; one of the first children featured on the Children’s Miracle Network Telethon right here on 22News. He battled health issues from the day he was born in 1987; enduring over 80 surgeries, but living life to the fullest. He graduated from high school in 2005, and graduated from Westfield State University this past spring.
He never let his physical problems take away his dreams, and he inspired all of us by his courage, his determination, and his ever-present smile.
He leaves behind his father John and his mother Beth, and sister Sarah and her husband John and their two children, as well as so many loving family members and friends who will never forget his enduring spirit.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be directed to the Cory Garwacki Fund, c/o the Premier Source Credit Union, 232 North Main St., East Longmeadow, MA 01028.
