Flu shot season continues for Springfield residents

The Springfield Department of Health continues to give flu shots to city employees

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield city employees were given free flu shots on Wednesday afternoon at multiple locations by the Springfield Department of Health.

Wednesday’s clinic was the latest in a series of clinics that will continue throughout flu season for as long as the Springfield Department of Health has vaccines.

The Springfield Department of Health says that this flu season will be moderate compared to past flu seasons.

“The information we’ve gotten from the Massachusetts department of health is indicated It’s not going to be different from last year,” says Bettye Frederico, Deputy Director of the Springfield Health Department. “Last year was not an overwhelming season.”

The department still encourages everyone to get the flu shot every year to decrease the risk of catching the illness.

Keitha Maldando, a mother of five children, told 22News, “I have little one’s at home. It’s really Important I just figured It’s good for me to protect myself as well.”

22News will continue to update you on these flu shot clinics as they continue around the city.
