NOAA releases 2014-2015 winter outlook

Above average precipitation is expected here in southern New England

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Last winter we saw plenty of snow and cold weather, but according to NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration a repeat of last winter’s weather pattern is unlikely.

Their winter outlook is calling for warmer than average temperatures here in New England.

The winter outlook also calls for above average precipitation here in southern New England and over most of the eastern seaboard.

Some people 22News talked to are looking forward to snow. “I’m actually hoping for a lot of snow. My kids love snow and my husband just bought a snow blower so he’s probably going to want to use it and we’re hoping it’s enough for my kids to go sledding,” said Malinda Bresnahan of Southampton.

The winter outlook does not project where and when snowstorms may hit. It also does not forecast how much snowfall we may get this winter.
