Holyoke PD warn of a G&E phone scheme

Caller refers to a “service termination order”

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – The Holyoke Police Department is warning residents of a Gas and Electric Company phone scheme.

According to Holyoke Police Lieutenant Jim Albert, the department has received multiple reports of a woman calling local residents stating: “This is Bianca Jones from the Holyoke Gas and Electric and you owe money, and if you do not pay, your service will be terminated.”

Lt. Albert said other versions of the call refer to a “service termination order,” which adds a level of authority to the call. He said these calls are fraud and the public should not respond to these calls or threats.

The Holyoke Gas and Electric Company is aware of the scheme, and they do not issue notices through the telephone this way, Lt. Albert said.

If you have any questions, or concerns, please contact the Holyoke Police Department at 413-322-6900.
