SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Friday was a memorable day for thirteen Western Massachusetts residents who can now call themselves American citizens.
Accompanied by friends and family, the men and women became naturalized citizens at the Western New England University School of Law.
University employee Silvia Pickrell, who left her native Germany 21 years ago, told 22News “Right now I feel really honored. It’s a special day for me to be here today. I’ve been working for eight years as housekeeper, I feel great.”
The newly-minted Americans also come from Ghana, Japan, Myanmar, and Pakistan.
