Freeze Warning in effect for parts of WMass

Freezing temperatures may kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A Freeze Warning is in effect from midnight to 9 a.m. Monday for Hampden and eastern Hampshire Counties.

* Temperatures…in the upper 20s and low 30s.

* Timing…midnight tonight through 9 am Monday.

* Impacts…freezing temperatures may kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.

A Freeze Warning is issued when freezing temperatures are forecast to threaten outdoor plants. Those with agricultural interests in the warning area are advised to harvest or protect tender vegetation.

Also, potted plants normally left outdoors should be covered or brought inside away from the cold.

A Freeze Warning has not been issued for Berkshire, Franklin and western Hampshire Counties because a hard frost has already occurred there and the growing season has come to an end.
