Springfield firefighters and police were called

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – One person has died after an accident overnight in Springfield.

Springfield firefighters and police were called to 1338 Roosevelt Ave., near the Springfield High School of Science & Technology, just before midnight for a car accident.

According to Springfield fire department spokesperson Dennis Leger, a man was killed in when his car crashed into a utility pole. The victim hit a pole around midnight and was ejected from his car. The pole the driver hit was dangling, but the wires were still intact.

Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney identified the person killed in the crash as Tayquan Goodman, 22, of Springfield. The driver of the car, 21 year-old Daquan M. Warrick of Springfield, has been charged with motor vehicle homicide while under the influence of alcohol. Read more
