Agawam residents excited about theater re-opening

New owner hopes to raise the final $40,000 she still needs through Kickstarter

AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – Plans to re-open the Agawam Twin Cinemas at the Southgate shopping plaza are getting rave reviews from Agawam moviegoers.

22News has nothing but good things since we broke the story Friday that the movie theater will soon re-open. The new owner Kim Wheeler told us of her plans to re-open the twin cinemas as a first-run theater during the Thanksgiving holiday.

10-year-old Maxwell Florian likes the idea of seeing first-run films there.

Maxwell said, “Before, they used to have movies that came out a month ago, but now they might have new movies there.”

Kim Wheeler, the new owner, hopes to raise the final $40,000 she still needs, through Kickstarter.com before she re-opens the theater built in the late 1960s.
