Veteran joins group combating child pornography

WASHINGTON, D.C. (NBC NEWS) – Sergeant First Class Michael Theberge is one of 13 veterans sworn in on Friday to the Second Class of Human Exploitation Rescue Operative Corps, or HERO Corps.

These HEROs graduated from an intense training course in computer forensic analysis and digital evidence collection. They will assist special agents with criminal investigations involving child pornography and online sexual exploitation.

Theberge told 22News “I feel amazing. Not once in my life did I ever think that I would do anything with computers. And then this opportunity was presented to me and they were talking about going out there and saving kids and I was all for it.”

Theberge has been assigned to the Homeland Security Investigations office in Reno, Nevada.
