(NBC News) A health care worker who handled a lab specimen from Ebola victim Thomas Eric Duncan has quarantined herself on a cruise ship.
The United States is now trying to help get her off the ship. There was no travel ban when she left, she has no symptoms and her monitoring period is up in two days.
Meanwhile, the first nurse infected while treating Duncan has been moved to one of just four specialized units in the country prepared to handle Ebola.
Lawmakers, mostly Republicans, are pressuring President Obama to ban travel from West Africa, but the president says a ban might prompt travelers to hide where they’re coming from, increasing the risk of infection.
The World Health Organization says West Africa could see 4,500 deaths from Ebola by the end of this week.
