CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – 22News will be airing a series of debates leading up to election day on November 4th. This election has some very high profile ballot questions as well as important races for western Massachusetts. Here is the schedule of debates:

Sunday, October 19th – InFocus at Noon-12:30pm: A forum concerning Question 1, which would eliminate the requirement that the state’s gas tax be adjusted annually based on the Consumer Price Index. 22News Laura Hutchinson will be our moderator. Representing the yes side is Rep. Geoff Diehl, a Whitman Republican and a top backer of the ballot question. The No side told 22News they were unable to have someone attend.

Sunday, October 19th – InFocus at 12:30pm-1pm: A debate concerning Question 4, which would create a law entitling employees in Massachusetts to earn and use sick time. Steve Crawford will debate on behalf of the Yes on 4 campaign. The No on 4 Committee will be represented by Bob Luz, CEO of the Massachusetts Restaurant Association. 22News Laura Hutchinson will be our moderator.

Thursday, October 22 at 8-9pm: Gubernatorial Debate with Chalie Baker and Martha Coakley. During the debate, which was moderated by 22News anchor Barry Kriger, Baker and Coakley answered questions you, our viewers, submitted using our Report It feature. They also asked questions of one another during a “Lincoln-Douglas style” exchange.

Monday, October 27th at 12:30-1pm: The race for the Massachusetts Senate seat in the 2nd Hampden & Hampshire District. Incumbent Republican Donald Humason of Westfield will debate Democratic Primary winner Patrick Leahy of Holyoke. 22News Rich Tettemer will be our moderator.

Tuesday, October 28th at 12:30-1pm: The race for the Massachusetts House seat in 6th Hampden District. Incumbent Democrat Michael Finn will debate Republican Nathan Bech. Both are from West Springfield. 22News Rich Tettemer will be our moderator.

Wednesday, October 29th at 12:30-1pm: The race for the Massachusetts Senate seat in the 1st Hampden & Hampshire District. Moderator 22News Rich Tettemer will question Democrat Eric Lesser, Republican Debra Boronski, and Mike Franco of America First.

Thursday, October 30th at 12:30-1pm: The race for the Massachusetts House seat in the 4th Hampden District. This is a rematch of an April special election to fill this seat. Winner and Democrat John Velis is challenged by Republican Dan Allie. 22News Rich Tettemer will be our moderator.

Friday, October 31st at 12:30-1pm: The race for the Massachusetts House seat in the 12th Hampden District. Incumbent Democrat Angelo Puppolo of Springfield will debate Republican and Wilbraham Board of Selectmen Chairman Bob Russell. 22News Rich Tettemer will be our moderator.

Sunday, November 2nd – InFocus at Noon-12:30pm: A debate concerning Question 3, which would prohibit casinos, slot machine establishments, and betting on simulcast greyhound racing. 22News Laura Hutchinson will be our moderator. The yes side will be represented by John Ribeiro, Chairman of Repeal The Casino Deal Campaign. On the no side will be Michael Mathis, President of MGM Springfield.

Sunday, November 2nd – InFocus at 12:30-1pm: A debate concerning Question 2, which will expand the state’s bottle deposit requirement to all non-alcoholic, non-carbonated drinks except dairy products, infant formula, and FDA approved medicines. 22News Laura Hutchinson will be our moderator. Janet Domentiz of MassPIRG will represent the yes side. Nicole Giambusso will be the spokesperson for No on Question 2: Stop Forced Deposits.
