Macy’s has kicked off the Thanksgiving Day shopping wars

2013 was the first time Macy’s opened on Thanksgiving

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – The retailer says they’ll open their doors at 6 o’clock on Thanksgiving night; that’s two hours earlier than last year.

Aria Dixon of Springfield told 22News, she thinks it takes away from the holiday spirit, but that there’s not much we can do. “We have to remember this America. This is a capitalist country; we thrive off of consumers. So that’s just the American way.”

Last year Macy’s employees said they appreciated the opportunity to work on Thanksgiving, so they could have time off on Black Friday. 2013 was the first time Macy’s actually opened on Thanksgiving Day.
