EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – Dozens of homes had no water service after a water main break in East Longmeadow Monday morning.
East Longmeadow Police Sgt. Patrick Manley told 22News the break on Garland Avenue was first reported around 6 o’clock Monday morning. He estimated 20 to 40 homes were affected.
One neighbor, Paul Sacharczyk, told 22News he first heard about the break from the newspaper delivery man. “Around 5 o’clock this morning the water was gushing out of the street. The newspaper delivery guy noticed the water coming up and called the police.”
The East Longmeadow Public Works Department repaired the main and water was restored hours later. It was originally expected be fixed within four to six hours.
