One person taken to hospital after two car crash in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP)- One person was taken to the hospital after a two car crash on Wilbraham Road early Monday morning.

At about 6:30 a.m. a white Merrcedes was traveling west on Wilbraham Rd. when it crossed over to the other side and crashed into a utility pole in front of the John J. Duggan Middle School, Springfield Police Dept. Sgt. Vincent Spagnolo said.

The pole and wires came down across the road. Then a gold Volvo traveling East hit the pole in the road and the car flipped onto its side.

By 7:30 a.m. the crash site had been cleaned up, both cars removed, and the road was re-opened to traffic.

The driver of the Mercedes was take to the hospital for some facial injuries. The driver of the volvo was not injured,  Sgt. Spagnolo said.
