Jeep loses control during hayride; one killed

State Police are continuing this investigation

(WCSH) – A hayride flipped in Mechanic Falls, Maine Saturday night, leaving 23 people injured and a 17-year-old dead.

A hay wagon being pulled by a Jeep lost control, careened down a hill, struck a tree, and overturned in Mechanic Falls Saturday night. Investigators say a mechanical problem with the Jeep may have been what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

State Police are continuing this investigation. An inspection of the Jeep is part of that process. Many of the injured have been treated and released, but police say some still remain hospitalized.
