BOSTON (AP) – A man found dead after a five-alarm fire in Boston late last week had been stabbed multiple times and police have launched a homicide investigation.

Police on Sunday announced that the victim found after Friday night’s fire in the city’s Roxbury neighborhood was 69-year-old Santo Alcadio Bernabel, of Hazelton, Pennsylvania.

A fire department spokesman says the blaze destroyed the 3 1/2-story, wood-frame building with six apartments. Damage was estimated at $1.1 million. About two dozen residents were forcedout of their homes.

Police are still investigating the cause of the fire. Anyone with information is urged to call authorities.
