(NBC News) – He spent eight years as a “Saturday Night Live” cast member, but this weekend, Bill Hader returns to New York City to host the show for the first time.
Hader says his return came out of a casual conversation with SNL creator Lorne Michaels about new cast member Pete Davidson.
“Lorne called me initially and said hey wanted to let you know, we’re going to hire Pete. So thank you for that, thank you for the recommendation, and I was like, oh wow, awesome. Oh, yeah, do you want to host the show?” said Hader.
Hader wouldn’t spoil any surprises planned for this week’s SNL, but then again, he says they often happen at the last minute anyway.
