Residents in Colrain feel lucky after Wednesday’s storms

Power was restored early Thursday morning

COLRAIN, Mass. (WWLP) – The Franklin County town of Colrain continued its cleanup efforts on Thursday. Colrain’s Highway Superintendent Scott Sullivan told 22News the town removed the rest of the trees and debris from York Road.

Power was restored early Thursday morning, but phone companies continued to work all day to restore phone lines. Residents said they were lucky that no one got hurt.

“Actually, very lucky our house didn’t get hit because we have a giant tree right behind our house, but all the roads and everything, it looks awful,” Nereida Alves said. “All the trees were on top of the vehicles. at least thank god no one got hurt, but vehicles can be replaced but humans can’t

Several cars and homes in Colrain were damaged in Wednesday’s storms when massive trees fell on top of them.
