(NBC News) An Illinois man accused of attempting to join ISIS was ordered held without bond in Chicago Thursday.
19-year-old Mohammed Hamzah Khan was arrested while allegedly on his way to join ISIS.
Khan’s lawyer and family say he posed no threat to America, but can’t get a fair trial.
“All you have to do is feel the hysteria in the air today,” said attorney Thomas Anthony Durkin.
In Canada, authorities say they’re on guard against 80 suspected terrorists who might have returned from Syria. That alert was heightened after Canada on Tuesday agreed to join the coalition and conduct airstrikes, a move backed by two-thirds of Canadians in a new poll.
