(NBC News) Lawmakers are outraged at what they call a “lack of concern” by the President’s protective detail.

A new Washington Post report says when President Obama was at the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta earlier this month, a security contractor with a criminal record and a gun was standing right next to him in an elevator. The man was never screened.

This revelation comes after a new report that the White House fence jumper was stopped by an off-duty officer who happened to be nearby.

Initially, the Secret Service said he was stopped just inside the door.
