WESTBROOK, Conn. (WTNH) — Police are investigating the discovery of a woman’s body on a beach in Westbrook Wednesday morning.
State police said the body was discovered around 7:15 a.m. at the end of Broadway South, near Grove Beach South Road, a private neighborhood in the town.
The Major Crimes Unit of the state police and the medical examiner’s office were both called to the scene. It’s now been cleared and the beach has reopened.
“No identification has been made on the body,” state police said.
News 8 spoke to several neighbors who tell us that a man walking his dog along the beach found the body. The neighbors also said the wman did not have any clothes on.
Police were seen going in and out of a cottage right on the beach not far from where the body was found. Right now it’s unclear if there is a connection to the body and that cottage. There are many homes in the area, and the majority of them have been closed up for the season.
