WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Thousands of people enjoyed the Big E in West Springfield one last time before the great New England fair ends Sunday night.
What bought people out today is quite simple: the rides, and of course, who could help all of that food?
Thousands of people wanted to make sure they didn’t miss the last day this year of this New England tradition, a tradition that’s going 98 years strong.
“I come here every year,” said Meaghan Tetro of New Haven, Conn. “I really like just walking around, seeing all the different vendors and all the weird fried food that they have.”
John Licursi of New Haven told 22News, “It’s got to be the food. It’s all about the food. You know, I had chocolate covered bacon, that’s the good stuff.”
Big E representative Noreen Tassinari told 22News that as of Saturday night, they’re ahead of last year’s record of about 1.5 million people in attendance.
