Cancer survivors release balloons in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Sunday was Cancer Survivors Day in Springfield. Hundreds of cancer survivors who were treated at Mercy Medical Center released hundreds of balloons.

This was a celebration noting their struggle against the disease. Many of the balloons each carried a personal message they hope will inspire others. Cancer Survivors Day has become an annual event.

This is the 11th year survivors and their families have gathered to give thanks and to remember those who lost their lives.
