BOSTON, Mass. (AP) — U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren is planning to formally endorse fellow Democrat Seth Moulton in the state’s 6th Congressional District contest.
Moulton, who is facing off against Republican Richard Tisei in the November election, will appear with Warren at Tatiana’s Restaurant in Lynn on Saturday afternoon. They will be accompanied by state Sen. Tom McGee, a Lynn resident and head of the Massachusetts Democratic Party.
The endorsement could be a bit awkward for Warren, who endorsed and helped raise money for incumbent Democratic Rep. John Tierney during the party primary.
At the time Warren and others were looking past the primary, assuming it would be Tierney facing Tisei in the general election.
Instead Moulton, former Marine and Iraq War veteran, defeated Tierney in the Democratic primary in a surprise upset.
The election is Nov. 4.
