Video board collapses during UMass game

No one was hurt

AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – Fans at the UMass football game got more than bargained for Saturday night.  During the third quarter of the game between the Minutemen and Bowling Green, a video board collapsed. No one was hurt.

UMass Athletics Spokesman John Sinnett said the crash happened at around 5:15. He says the video board was rented.

A hydraulic failure caused the board to fall about 15 to 20 feet onto its support shaft.

The scoreboard is outside the stadium and had no impact on the playing surface or the game.
