BOSTON (AP) — Republican candidate for U.S. Senate Brian Herr is challenging incumbent Democratic Sen. Edward Markey to five debates.
Herr said the debates should cover a variety of topics and be spread out geographically across the state.
Herr said that since he announced his bid for the Senate, he’s crisscrossed the state meeting with voters and discussing what he called his plan to grow the economy, create jobs and set America on a path to prosperity.
The little known selectman from Hopkinton is facing an uphill fight against Markey, who spent more than three decades in the House before winning a special election to the Senate last year,
As of mid-August, Herr had just $5,000 in cash left in his campaign account compared with Markey’s nearly $2.4 million.
The election is Nov. 4.
