BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — Bridgeport police are urging residents to turn in expired medication rather than flushing them down the toilet.
The Police Department’s Community Services Division is participating in the National Drug Take-Back Initiative.
Police warn of the potential for abuse, with prescription drugs in medicine or kitchen cabinets in reach of children and teens.
Police also discourage disposing unused or expired medications by flushing them down the toilet. Flushing certain medications may lead to groundwater contamination.
The Bridgeport Police Department will accept all expired medication, supplements, over-the-counter drugs, vitamins and prescription drugs in pill or liquid form at the Community Services Division from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
