SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The latest Boston Globe tracking poll shows that Republican Charlie Baker now has a lead over Democrat Martha Coakley in the governor’s race.
According to the poll, 40-percent of the surveyed voters supported Baker, 38-percent supported Coakley, and 18-percent were undecided. The poll also found that about half of the surveyed voters had no party affiliation.
Some people believe those Independent voters will determine who will be the next governor of our state. Springfield City Councilor Tim Rooke told 22News, “It’s not whether it’s a Democratic idea or a Republican idea; it’s whether it’s a good idea or a bad idea. That’s how a lot of families make decisions.”
All five candidates running for governor, Martha Coakley, Charlie Baker, Jeff McCormick, Scott Lively and Evan Falchuk, will debate Monday night in western Massachusetts starting at 7:00 p.m.
The debate will be available on WWLP.com and watch 22News at 11:00 p.m. for a recap of the debate.
