WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – More than 30 Security Forces members from the 104th Fighter Wing will deploy to Southwest Asia next week. The Squadron will deploy for approximately six months to provide resource protection to the Central Command.
A send-off ceremony will be held on Monday, September 29th at 11:30 a.m. at Barnes Air National Guard Base in Westfield. This will be the 16th deployment, stateside and overseas, that the 104th Security Forces Squadron has supported since 2001.
NOTE: The 104th Fighter Wing is equipped with the F-15 Eagle. One mission of the 104th is Aerospace Control Alert (ACA), providing armed fighters ready to scramble in a moment’s notice to protect the Northeast from any airborne threat. The unit is responsible for protecting a quarter of the nation’s population and one third of the Gross Domestic Product.
