Unclaimed cash could be waiting for you at The Big E

$430,000 was paid out to Big E visitors last year

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The State Treasurer’s Unclaimed Property Division is holding two and a half billion dollars in unclaimed cash and valuables, and some of it might be yours.

The odds are one in four the state owes you money. Big E visitors can stop at the Massachusetts building to find out if they’re on the list.

Lead investigator Reggie Steele told 22News $430,000 was paid out to Big E visitors last year. This year, one person was able to claim $15,000. “Any in-active accounts are turned over to us if it’s in-active for three years. It ends up with people misplacing documents.”

Steele said he gets between 3,500 and 4,000 inquiries every day from people hoping to claim some of that unclaimed two and a half billion dollars.
