Police Officer fires gun during traffic stop

PALMER, Mass. (WWLP) – The Massachusetts State Police and Ware Police are investigating a shooting that happened during a traffic stop on Route 32 in Ware.

According to Northwestern District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Mary Carey, around 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, a Ware police officer fired his service weapon after pulling a car over. The car then drove away from the scene.

On Tuesday night, 22News reporter Yoojin Cho saw four police cruisers on the shoulder of Route 32 near Kingsberry Lane. Rt. 32 was open, but drivers had to be careful since the road was narrowed. Caution tape was also up on the lawn area near the shoulder.

The shooting remains under investigation and the location of the driver that was pulled over is unknown at this time. Stay with 22News and WWLP.com for the latest information when it becomes available.
