Gas leak on UMass campus

AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – Berkshire Gas crews are working to repair a gas leak on the University of Massachusetts’ Amherst campus.

Berkshire Gas spokesperson Chris Farrell told 22News that they received a call from UMass Police just before 11:30 Friday morning.

UMass Police smelled an odor of natural gas coming from a manhole outside of the W.E.B. Du Bois Library.

Farrell told 22News that no one had to be evacuated, and there was no interruption in utility service.

Crews will be working to locate and repair the leak.
