Burglars fail to steal ATM, but return to take steaks

They stole $13,000 in cash

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) – When two burglars couldn’t get the ATM out of the Save-A-Lot on South Rossler in Cheektowaga, they returned to steal steaks and cash from the safe.

Just before 1 a.m. on September 9, the pair broke out the glass of the front sliding door and tried to remove the ATM from the vestibule, but they were unsuccessful and left. However, they didn’t stay away long.

Fifteen minutes later, the burglars returned. One ran to the back of the store and stole steaks while the other entered the office and stole $13,000 from the safe.

One suspect is described as a white male, 5’10” tall and 200 pounds. He was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, and a baseball cap with a logo on it. The other suspect is described as white, but the gender of the suspect is unknown. The suspect is around 5’7″ tall and 150 pounds. He or she was wearing a tan hoodie and black baggy sweatpants.

Police say the suspects fled the scene in an orange or red SUV, possibly an early 2000s Nissan Xtera, and it was last seen northbound on Rossler Avenue.
