SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – 267 western Massachusetts men, women and children became American citizens on Wednesday. The newly naturalized Americans took the oath of citizenship at the Springfield Armory National historic site.
14-year-old Katerina Vikhiv and her 16-year-old brother Sergey, both from Russia, are among the youngest of the 267 new citizens.
Katerina said, “Well before this it was no exciting but now I feel proud and exciting,” While Sergey added, “I’m really excited because in a couple of years I can vote. Now I don’t have to be an Immigrant anymore.”
The new American citizens came from sixty nine different countries.
