Health care bill could be costly to Massachusetts

Last year's disastrous website roll-out forced the state to start from the beginning

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Massachusetts next Governor may be in for a rude awakening, a big bill to pay for the new health care website.

The Pioneer Institute says the cost to create a new website under Obamacare could be close to $1 billion dollars. Last year’s disastrous website roll-out forced the state to start from the beginning. They hired new contractors to fix and relaunch the Commonwealth Care program before November 15th.

Annie Bigwood of Northamtpon told 22News she’s worried paying for it will mean cutting money from other areas, “I’m particularly passionate about education, and just the fact that it could cut a lot of programs that are so, so crucial to our state, it’s really frustrating.”

Governor Patrick said it won’t cost a billion dollars, that Massachusetts is expanding health care, within its budget.
